Prince is coming to New Zealand

New Zealand Celebrity News

Good news to all prince fans in New Zealand: the artist will soon be heading to the country to have a concert this year.

This will be Prince’s first time in the country. The “Purple Rain” singer will be touring New Zealand and Australia this month in a tour called Piano and a Microphone.

No other details–such as the dates, venues, and ticket information have been provided, but a statement said that these would be made available to the public soon.

The 57-year-old artist earlier released a statement about his now-postponed European tour dates, saying that the shows were challenging.

“Why do this now? For several reasons. For starters it is a challenge. I rarely get bad reviews because this is something that’s been perfected for over 30 years,” he said. “You have to try new things. With the piano it is more naked, more pure. You can see exactly what you get.”

The tour dates in Europe were postponed in the wake of the Paris shootings in November last year. The shows are set to be rescheduled, but no announcement has been made yet.

Prince kicked off the Piano and a Microphone tour last month, performing in Minnesota’s Paisley Park. This show received positive reviews by critics, who said that Prince continues to deliver stunning performances.

According to Rolling Stone, he told the audiences about the pain of mastering the piano, emerging from the shadow of is jazz pianist father.

“I thought I would never be able to play like my dad,” he told the crowd. “And he never missed an opportunity to remind me of it.”
