The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are set to return to New Zealand in November.
The news was confirmed today by Prime Minister John Key. “We agreed then that future visits should occur more regularly than in the past, to build on the close and special links between New Zealand and Their Royal Highnesses,” he said.
“I am delighted to welcome them both back to New Zealand,” Key added.
This would be the couple’s joint visit in the country. Their first visit was in 2012, for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
According to reports, the November visit may coincide on the first referendum on changing the New Zealand flag, which will happen on November 20th.
“I’m sure New Zealanders will be excited to hear that Their Royal Highnesses are returning, providing another opportunity to meet members of the royal family here in New Zealand,” Key said in the announcement.
The November event would be the second royal visit for the year. In May, Prince Charles’ son Prince Harry spent a week in the country.
William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, visited the country with their son Prince George in 2014.
Charles and Camilla will also reportedly visit Australia on the same tour. The exact dates for the visit have not yet been revealed.
